Herzlichen Dank an Ulrich, Jeanne, Stefanie, Lilian, Andreas und Stefan, die meinem Gedächtnis auf die Sprünge geholfen haben, bzw. noch zusätzliche Informationen geliefert haben.

Erwiesen ist, daß Eldrige Cleaver in einer 1968 in San Francisco gehaltenen Rede sagte : "What we're saying today is that you're either part of the solution or you're part of the problem."

Aber auch die US-amerikanische Rockband MC5 hat 1968 auf ihrem Album "Kick out the jams(, brothers and sisters)" dieses Zitat als Motto benutzt. Als Rache dafür hat das FBI den Band-Manager John Sinclair mit einem eingefädelten Drogenfund für mehrere Jahre hinter Gitter gebracht. Dieses harte Urteil bewegte wiederum John Lennon dazu, auf dem 1971 erschienenen Album "Some Time in New York City" der "Plastic Ono Band" ein Stueck über John Sinclair zu schreiben ("It ain't fair, John Sinclair").

Stefan hat allerdings bei "Quote world" (http://quoteworld.eilc.org/) noch eine ältere Form des Zitats gefunden:

"If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem, but the perpetual human predicament is that the answer soon poses its own problems."
